Family reunification: bringing your family to Switzerland
Who can bring whom?
Permit B and C holders can apply for reunification for their spouse and children under 18. Conditions vary: for third-country nationals, appropriate housing and sufficient income without social assistance are required.
Deadlines not to miss
Reunification must in principle be requested within 5 years (12 months for children over 12). Beyond that, it is only granted for major family reasons.
Which permit does the family receive?
Generally the same type of permit as the sponsor: the spouse of a B holder receives a permit B. The spouse can work in Switzerland as soon as it is granted.
